FM talks to ECO secretary general for joint regional strategy on Coronavirus challenge.

He spoke to Secretary General Economic Cooperation Organization Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour on telephone on Friday.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called for formulation of a joint strategy at regional level against Covid-19 pandemic.

He underlined the need for holding an early virtual meeting of Economic Cooperation Organization health ministers.

He apprised ECO Secretary General about the features of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s proposal of debt relief to deal with the economic repercussions of Covid-19.

The FM said Pakistan is ready to play its role for promotion of regional, economic and trade links among the member states in the light of ECO’s 2025 vision.

He also urged international community to play its due role to rid the oppressed Kashmiris of the Indian tyranny.

Shah Mahmood said the eight million innocent Kashmiris have been suffering from double lockdown since Coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, Over 4550 people died of Coronavirus in Pakistan so far.

Out of 221,896 COVID-19 positive patients, 113,623 have so far recovered from the disease across the country.

The virus claimed lives of seventy eight people across the country during the last twenty four hours.

As per official data, it took the death tally to 4,551.

Out of 78,956 corona patients, 33786 have recovered in Punjab alone.

In Sindh, 89,225 confirmed cases of Coronavirus have been reported. Of these, 49,926 have recovered.

27,170 cases have so far been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and of these 14715 have recovered.

In Balochistan, 10,666 Coronavirus have so far been reported. Of these, 5,073 have recovered.

Official sources reported 13,195 cases in Islamabad with 8,264 recoveries.

1,160 confirmed cases of coronavirus  reported in Azad Kashmir. Of these, 686 have recovered.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, out of 1,524 cases, 1,173 patients have recovered.

As many as 22,941 corona tests carried out during this period.
