However, the number of recoveries from Covid-19 also continues to increase across the country.

As many as 205,929 patients so far recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, 31 patients died of the virus during the last 24 hours.

That took the death toll to 5,599.

According to the latest statistics, 1587 new coronavirus cases reported in the country during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 265,083.

These include 113,007 in Sindh, 90191 in Punjab, 32,086 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,436 in Balochistan, 14,599 in Islamabad, 1,849 Gilgit Baltistan and 1,915 in Azad Kashmir .

Moreover, 19,108 corona tests carried out during this period.

According to official data, government ensured repatriation of around 250,000 stranded Pakistanis from around 70 countries after they stuck up there following the suspension of the flights operations following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

About Covid-19 situation, the Prime Minister said smart lockdown policy across the country produced positive results.

The PM cited number of infections and deaths have decreased significantly due to aforesaid measures.

He also acknowledged the role of doctors and paramedical staff for their unprecedented services during the crisis of coronavirus.
