PM Imran Khan and Afghan President Ashraf discuss peace process, while Afghan Taliban delegation is visiting Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process for a political solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.

During telephonic conversation with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, he discussed the progress in the on-going Afghan peace process.

Moreover, the PM also discussed strengthening of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.

He reiterated Pakistan’s call on all the Afghan sides for taking measures for reduction in violence leading to ceasefire.

The Prime Minister also welcomed the recent progress in the Intra-Afghan negotiations in Doha.

He underlined Pakistan’s outreach to all Afghan stakeholders as part of its facilitative efforts to ensure progress towards an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement.

Moreover, the two leaders also agreed to continue their engagement for supporting the peace process and enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, the latest visit of Taliban Political Commission to Pakistan also comes also in this context.

Afghan Taliban meets FM Qureshi

Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban delegation met Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad.

Qureshi expressed Pakistan’s desire for reduction in violence.

He also reiterated desire for ceasefire in Afghanistan to take forward the peace process.

The FM expressed these views, in a televised message after talks with the Taliban delegation.

Furthermore, he said responsibility in this regard rests with all the stakeholders.

Moreover, he noted during the talks Taliban delegation showed their eagerness and seriousness for peace.
