The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has reconstituted Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

According to official sources, the ministry appointed Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad as its new Chairman.
Earlier, Mufti Munib ur Rehman was working as chairman since long.
However, government had come under pressure due to differences within the moon sighting committee.
Specially, some members had expressed no trust in Mufti Munib.
Therefore, government made this decision.
Since former general Pervez Musharraf-led regime, Mufti Munib had remained chairman until the latest order.
