In a tweet on Saturday, he further said they would receive about 6 million doses by March this year.

Moreover, Pakistan govt has received letter from Covax of indicative supply of up to 17 million doses of AstraZeneca in 1st half of this year.

He hailed this as a good news for the nation in connection with combating COVID-19.

He further said the government had signed with Covax nearly 8 months back to ensure availability.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that a special plane will fly to China tomorrow (Sunday) to bring the first tranche of Covid-19 vaccine.

They apprised this during a meeting of the National Command and Operation Center in Islamabad today (Saturday).

Besides, the forum deliberated at length about vaccine administration strategy across Pakistan, administrative measures and particularly movement of initial tranche of vaccine.

Moreover, they informed the meeting that they have put all necessary measures in place for vaccine storage at Islamabad.

They spoke of the movement of vaccine to various federating units, particularly to Sindh and Balochistan through air.

Meanwhile, vaccine nerve centre established at NCOC in coordination with provincial and district level vaccine administration and adult vaccination centres.
