Foreign Minister visits monument of founder of Tajik Empire Ismail Samani in Dushanbe.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited the monument in Tajikistan today (Wednesday).

He laid flowers wreath at the memorial to pay tribute to Ismail Samani.

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood, Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Imran Haider and senior officials accompanied him.

Meanwhile, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has expressed commitment to further strengthen relations with Pakistan.

He made this pledge, while  talking to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Dushanbe today.

Furthermore, the Tajik President expressed satisfaction over nature of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said there are lot of opportunities of expanding relations between the two countries in different fields including trade.

Meanwhile Foreign Minister noted the early completion of CASA 1000 project will prove instrumental for establishment of energy corridor amongst the South and Central Asian states.

High-level meetings

On the occasion, they also discussed regional security situation, including the Afghan peace process.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan will continue its sincere efforts for peace in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to further promote their economic and trade relations.

They reached understanding during a delegation level talks between the two countries in Dushanbe.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi led Pakistani side in the talks.

Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin led Tajikistan side.

Later, both addressed a joint news conference.

The FMs said both the sides have agreed to reactivate joint working groups to promote cooperation in different fields.
