The suspension becomes effective from 11.59pm on Wednesday, May 12.

In a tweet, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority and Civil Aviation announced this.

Moreover, it also announced suspension for transit passengers, with the exception of transit flights traveling to UAE and bound for these countries.

However, the decision exempts transit flights coming to the UAE and heading towards these countries.

It applies to the entry of travellers who remained in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days before coming to the UAE.

According to NCEMA, flights between the four countries will continue to allow the transport of passengers from the UAE to the four countries.

Earlier, the UAE last month banned entry to travellers from India to guard against the spread of the highly contagious Indian variant.

The authority also made clear that that for those coming from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka through other countries must stay stay in those countries for at least 14 days.

Because, the UAE allows them to enter the UAE if they spent 14 days in other countries prior to arrival.

However, cargo flights will continue to operate between the UAE and these countries.
