Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari and Information Minister Chaudhary Fawad Hussain addressed a joint press conference in Islamabad today.
Pakistan claims UN Council resolution on Palestine its diplomatic success
Mazari underlined the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution on Palestine as a major diplomatic success of Pakistan.
She further said that Pakistan initiated this resolution, while he Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) supported it.
The Minister noted this as a very important resolution as it received support from across all the regions.
Shireen Mazari said it calls for establishment of an international independent investigation commission to probe into Israel’s human rights violations against Palestinians.
She said Israel is committing war crimes against Palestinians and the attack on Al-Aqsa mosque was not just an attack on Palestinians but the faith of Islam.
The Minister said that some countries which claim them flag bearers of human rights either opposed or abstained from voting on the resolution.
India abstained
She pointed out that India abstained from voting on the resolution. Because it is committing the same blatant human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir which Israel is perpetrating on the Palestinian territory.
Mazari further said the UN Human Rights Council’s resolution has set a good precedence.
She hoped possibility of moving a similar resolution on Kashmir dispute with the support of the OIC.
She expressed confidence that now the voice of oppressed people of Palestine and Kashmir will echo in the whole world.
In his remarks, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said the leadership role played by Prime Minister Imran Khan on the issue of Palestine is before the people of Pakistan and the entire Muslim Ummah.
