Pakistan calls for compensation for enforced disappearances in IOJK – Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, during the interactive dialogue with Working Group on Enforced Disappearances in New York, Pakistan’s Councellor Saima Saleem raised this issue.

At the United Nations,  she called for providing reparation and compensation to the victims of enforced disappearances and their family members.

She said thousands of unmarked and unknown graves of victims of enforced disappearances have surfaced in the held valley for the last few years.

Ms Saima said enforced disappearances in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have led to torture and custodial killings.

Moreover, she noted it also led to rape and sexual molestations, arbitrary detentions, extrajudicial killings and traumatizing victim’s families.

From the investigations held so far, occupation forces subjected these victims to disappeared enforcement first.

And the they tortured them to death or summarily executed.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations  Munir Akram met with the UN High Commission for Refugees Director Regional Bureau  for Asia Indrika Ratwatte.

He met him in New York and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, Pakistan called for preservation of balance in the defence capabilities of states at lowest level of armaments and military forces.

Pakistan’s envoy Khalil Hashmi at the United Nations said this, while speaking in a thematic debate in the General Assembly’s First Committee.

He underscored the special responsibility of states with larger military capabilities in promoting agreements for regional security and undiminished security for all.
