Govt extends summer vacation for schools

KARACHI: The Sindh government has extended the summer vacations for all the public and private schools and other educational institutions till August 14 in the wake of ongoing heatwave and monsoon season.
According to the notification, schools in the province will now reopen after August 15.
Activities and co-curricular events related to August 14 will continue in schools, the notification stated.
“The summer vacation[s] are hereby extended in all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education & Literacy Department till 14.08.2024 in the wake of the heat-wave and expected monsoon rains,” the statement read.
It should be noted that the Sindh government initially scheduled summer vacations from June 1 to July 31.
Meanwhile, parts of Sindh and especially the port city is likely to get hit by another spell of monsoon rains between Wednesday and Sunday (July 24-28).
