TTP declared Fitna-e-Khawarij through notification, says DG ISPR

 Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry is giving a briefing to the media on the Pakistan’s security situation at General Headquarters (GHQ).

Addressing the briefing, the DG ISPR said that 24 terrorists have been killed in 15 days. Over 23,000 operations were conducted across the country.

“TTP has been declared Fitna-e-Khawarij through a notification,” he told the news conference.

Last month, the director general of Pakistan military’s media wing said there was some increase in organised propaganda, false, wrong news and concocted news against the armed forces in recent times. That is why it is important to talk on these matters.”

He added that very serious issues are being used for politics and the Azm-e-Istehkam operation is an example of this. Azm-e-Istehkam is not a military operation but a comprehensive and integrated counter-terrorism campaign, he continued.

Lt Gen Ahmed said that a narrative had been built to give an impression that the operation was launched to displace citizens. He clarified it was only for the purpose of reinvigorating the already in-place National Action Plan”.

About the counter-terrorism operations conducted so far in the year, the DG ISPR said 22,409 intelligence-based operations were carried out against terrorists and their facilitators.

He added daily over 112 operations were being conducted by the law enforcement agencies against terrorism.
