Electricity prices further increased in Pakistan

Electricity prices have been increased once again by Rs2.56 per unit across Pakistan for the month of June.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued the decision in response to a fuel adjustment charges plea.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had initially requested an increase of Rs2.63 per unit, but NEPRA approved a slightly lower hike of Rs2.56 per unit.
The price increase applies solely to June’s fuel price adjustment. Lifeline consumers and K-Electric users are exempt from this hike.
The additional charges will be reflected in consumers’ electricity bills for August.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that reducing electricity prices is a top priority for the PML-N government and its allies.
He emphasized that providing relief to electricity consumers is a key agenda for PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his administration.
During cabinet meeting, the prime minister highlighted the need to lower electricity prices to boost Pakistan’s exports.
