Cabinet approves 26th constitutional amendment
The federal Cabinet has approved the 26th constitutional amendment in an important meeting today.
According to GTV, a federal Cabinet meeting was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Before the federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with President Asif Ali Zardari in which detailed consultations were held on the constitutional amendment and the president was taken into confidence.
Speaking after the meeting, Federal Minister Musadik Malik said that the government has approved draft of the 26th constitutional amendment. The Cabinet also okayed the draft which was made by the PPP, the government and the coalition parties, he added.
Last night, in the Cabinet meeting, the constitutional amendment bill was considered in which Bilawal Bhutto Zardari briefed the Cabinet during a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Meanwhile, a PTI delegation has reached JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence under the chairmanship of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan for final discussion on the draft constitutional amendments.
