PHC moved to stop Gandapur from focusing on protests instead of public welfare

21 November, 2024 15:47

A petition has been filed against Khyber Paktunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, his cabinet, provincial chief secretary, top police officer and others with the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

The petitioner, Jalaluddin a businessman by profession, filed the plea through his counsel Advocate Afroz Ahmad against the top KP government officials for holding protests and giving a call for march on Islamabad with the PHC .

In the plea, he made the KP chief minister, members of provincial cabinet, chief secretary, home secretary and inspector of general of police as respondents.

The petitioner adopted a stance in the plea that the KP govt was elected to ensure peace, welfare and to make policies for the betterment of the people of province. However, the provincial government has completely neglected its prime job for which they were elected and is only focusing on protests and march on Islamabad.

He further said that all government resources are being used like Rescue 1122, fire brigades, local government heavy machinery and officials.

Jalaluddin argued that that in previous protest many government officials were arrested. Fire brigades, ambulances and government machinery was confiscated by the local administration of Punjab/Islamabad.

Recently, a local pamper factory caught a fire but it could not be put out on time due to insufficient machinery courtesy confiscation of fire brigades and necessary equipment during recent protests, the petitioner said,

In the plea, Jalaluddin said that now once again the KP government announced a march on Islamabad on November 24.

He said that provincial government has no right to use public property in protests. The chief minister is using public assets, blocking roads and putting people lives to risk, he added.

He prayed to the court to stop the KP government from holding protests and the upcoming march on Islamabad.
