Six soldiers martyred, 22 terrorists killed in KP operations

At least 22 terrorists were killed and six soldiers martyred in three separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), military’s media wing said on Sunday.

The operations, which took place between December 6 and 7, targeted terrorist hideouts in Tank, North Waziristan, and Thall districts.

In Tank, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Gul Imam area resulted in the death of nine terrorists, with six others reported injured.

In North Waziristan, security forces successfully neutralized 10 terrorists during another operation. Meanwhile, in Thall, the military thwarted an attempt by terrorists to attack a check post, killing three attackers.

Six soldiers, including Havildar Jadid Ali, Lance Naik Shaheed Ur Rehman, Lance Naik Sifat Ullah, Lance Naik Wilayat Hussain, and Sepoy Nizam Uddin, were martyred during these operations. The ISPR emphasized that sanitization operations have been launched in the areas to ensure the elimination of any remaining terrorist threats.

The report also noted a sharp increase in terrorist-related fatalities during the third quarter of 2024, with a 90% rise in violence compared to previous periods. The majority of these fatalities occurred in KP and Balochistan, marking the highest surge in terror-related deaths in a decade.

The military statement concluded by reaffirming its commitment to eliminating terrorism and praised the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers, which further strengthen the resolve to combat terrorism in Pakistan.
