One killed, 24 injured in multi-vehicle pileup on Karachi-Hyderabad motorway

In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, one person was killed, and over 24 others were injured in a pileup on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway.

The accident occurred in the early hours when four vehicles, including two passenger buses traveling from Hyderabad to Karachi, collided. The police confirmed that the deceased was a young man, while efforts were ongoing to identify both the victims and the injured.

According to authorities, the incident was triggered when a passenger bus lost control and overturned after a brief spell of light rain. This led to a chain reaction, with another bus and two cars crashing into the overturned vehicle.

Additionally, an oil tanker collided with a container truck as drivers tried to brake suddenly to avoid the initial crash.

Rescue operations were swiftly carried out, with ambulances on-site to provide immediate medical assistance. The injured were rushed to the trauma center at Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Pakistan frequently witnesses such road accidents, often due to factors such as driver negligence, poor road conditions, and adverse weather.

A similar incident occurred just a few days earlier, on December 30, when two separate accidents claimed 18 lives and left 37 others injured.

A bus overturned near Fateh Jang in Punjab, and a wedding van collided with a trawler in Naushahro Feroze, Sindh. Additionally, 11 people, including six women and five men, died after a bus overturned on the M-14 Motorway near Fateh Jang.
