Muslims celebrate Imam Ali’s birth anniversary across the world today
Hundreds of millions of Muslims have started celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (A.S) worldwide.
The celebrations are being held today that feature festivities, including eulogistic ceremonies hosting chanting and joyful crowds, and distribution of confectionary and sherbet.
The day is marked as the Father’s Day in Iran. During the day, fathers are praised by their families for their dedicated affection and service.
Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S) was born 23 years before the Hejira that marked the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s departure from Makkah to Medina.
During the Ghadir Khum event, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) averred: “Whoever I am his master, Ali is his master.”
Imam Ali, a celebrated personality among many faiths, is the husband of the Prophet’s daughter, Hazrat Fatima Zahra (A.S).
He is the father of Imam Hassan (A.S) and Imam Hussain (A.S), as well as Hazrat Sayyida Zaynab (A.S) and Umm Kulthum (A.S).
Imam Ali ruled as the Caliph for less than five years.
Owing to his epic bravery, contempt for danger, and insistence on observation of justice and equality, he holds a prominent position among Muslims.
Imam Ali fought off several wars waged by hostile forces.
