Indian-made mobile phones, other devices declared threat to Pakistan’s cybersecurity
Indian-made mobile phones and other devices have become a major threat to Pakistan’s cyber security.
Indian iPhones and related devices have been declared a serious risk for Pakistani users.
The Cabinet Division has sent a letter to the federal ministries, divisions and all provincial chief secretaries.
According to government sources, the letter has exposed cyber security concerns due to Indian interference in monitoring Pakistan’s sensitive information infrastructure and geopolitical tensions with India, while sensitive data can be stolen through access to fake websites and Apple-style portals.
The sources said Indian manufacturing products and devices may become security concerns for Pakistan. The presence of malware viruses and data collection of Pakistani users through the products is a fear of the presence of viruses with hardware or software in the production of products.
The sources said portals and websites can be accessed through fake e-Malaysia messages, affecting the manufacturing of products to monitor and collect data on Pakistani consumers.
The letter recommends buying Apple products in Pakistan from certified resellers, checking device sales at the time of purchase, and keeping Apple devices updated with the iPhone operating system.
