Starlink desires to build 2 to 3 ground stations in Pakistan

24 January, 2025 21:10

Starlink has expressed its desire to build 2 to 3 ground stations in Pakistan.

According to the PTA document, the company wants to provide direct internet to Pakistani consumers through LEO satellite. Elon Musk’s company has registered with the SECP as a private limited company.

After all regulatory requirements are met, PTA will issue internet services licence to Starlink.

Earlier this month, Elon Musk confirmed that Starlink had applied for permission to launch its internet services in Pakistan and is awaiting approval from the government.

On January 23, 2025, the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology was informed that Starlink could launch services once security clearance is obtained, which is a required step before acquiring the necessary licenses.

PTA Chairman Maj-Gen (retd) Hafeezur Rehman expressed optimism that the matter would be resolved within one month.
