May 9 case: Sentence of 10 PTI workers including 5 Afghan nationals suspended
The Islamabad High Court has suspended the sentence of 10 PTI workers including 5 Afghan nationals in the cases pertaining to May 9 and 10 protests.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq of Islamabad High Court heard the petition for suspension of sentence of PTI workers during which the relevant officials appeared in the court.
During the hearing, the IHC observed that in the FIR, there are charges against the accused of attacking the police and burning the police post in Faizabad.
According to the records, not a single accused was arrested from the scene.
After arguments in the case, the court suspended the sentence of 10 PTI workers, including 5 Afghan nationals, and ordered them to be released on bail.
The Islamabad High Court also ordered the accused to deposit Rs25,000.
According to the charge sheet of the prosecution, as the 5 accused are Afghan citizens, the court ordered the accused to submit their original identity cards to the deputy registrar to verify their citizenship.
