PM Shehbaz opens newly renovated Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday opened the Lahore’s newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium for the upcoming Champions Trophy amid much fanfare and festivities.
The prime minister inaugurated the renovated Gaddafi Stadium accompanying Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and other officials.
Last month, Naqvi had said that the stadium would be reopened on February 7 by the prime minister while Karachi’s stadium would be reopened by President Asif Ali Zardari on February 11.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Shehbaz said that it was a happy day for everyone that the stadium’s reconstruction was completed in such grand way.
About the Champions Trophy, the prime minister said that he had trust in the Pakistan team to win the tournament. He added that we all are praying for you. We are all waiting for the moment when you will defeat India.
Shehbaz said that Babar Azam and Rizwan, we have lots of expectations from you.
He advised Shaheen Afridi to follow in the footsteps of his father-in-law and pile up wickets.
Speaking on the occasion, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the Champions Trophy and the tri-series were neither for PCB nor the government, rather it was for all of Pakistan.
