Nation looking towards you, PTI founder tells CJP

10 February, 2025 21:40

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has urged Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi to stand by law and justice.

Speaking to journalists at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, Imran Khan addressed the CJP, saying: “The nation is looking towards you.”

He said that he wrote two letters to Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir because all democratic ways have been obstructed.

The PTI founder’s remarks came after the CJP led Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) okayed the appointment of six new judges to the Supreme Court amid a boycott by PTI MPs and two senior SC judges.

Imran said that the CJP needs to stand by law and justice.

The 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been behind bars since August 2023. He was sentenced in multiple cases after his ouster from power in April 2022.

The former prime minister while blasting the coalition government said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and federal ministers are all fake. There is no hope from parliament, he added

It is to be mentioned here that the former ruling party alleges that their mandate was stolen during the February 8, 2024, general elections.
