Karachi police recover ‘burnt body’ of missing DHA youth
The burnt body of 23-year-old Mustafa Amir, a BBA student allegedly abducted for ransom last month, was recovered from a torched vehicle near the Hub checkpost in Balochistan on Friday, according to investigation officers.
The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) had been struggling to locate Amir, collecting evidence against the prime accused, Armughan, during his prolonged disappearance.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muqaddas Haider of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) revealed at a press conference that the recovery of Amir’s mobile phone and additional evidence from Armughan’s residence marked a turning point in the investigation.
Haider explained that the case was transferred to the CIA after Amir’s mother received a ransom call on January 6.
According to the investigation, Armughan, along with his accomplice, allegedly drove Amir to Hub Chowki, where they set the vehicle on fire.
In a related development, co-suspect Shiraz Bukhari, also known as Shavez, was arrested for his alleged role in the crime.
Shavez’s statements corroborated accounts from Armughan’s detained servants, who claimed that Amir was shot dead during a confrontation at their residence.
Dhoraji police have registered an FIR, and the recovered body has been handed over to a welfare organization for burial pending DNA confirmation.
