Chicken Prices surge in Lahore and Punjab Cities ahead of Ramadan 2025
Residents of Lahore and surrounding areas are feeling the impact of soaring chicken meat prices, with the cost of poultry now exceeding Rs650 per kilogram in some parts of the region.
The surge in prices is continuing to strain household budgets, particularly as the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches.
Latest Chicken Meat PriceÂ
While the provincial government has set the official price of broiler chicken at Rs590 per kilogram, prices in local markets have skyrocketed.
Consumers are now facing rates ranging from Rs670 to Rs680 per kilogram, marking a sharp increase from January 2025.
Meanwhile, the wholesale price of broiler chickens has been set at Rs393 per kilogram, while the retail price is hovering around Rs407 per kilogram.
Despite these official figures, many consumers are finding it difficult to afford chicken meat at the higher rates in the market.
Factors Behind the Price Surge
Experts attribute the rise in chicken prices to several contributing factors, including increased feed costs, supply chain disruptions, and general inflation.
These combined issues have led to a significant price spike, leaving both buyers and sellers grappling with the situation.
With Ramadan just around the corner, there are growing concerns about the affordability of this essential source of protein, especially for low-income families.
Despite ongoing efforts by provincial authorities to manage food prices, the increased cost of chicken continues to put a strain on the daily lives of many in the region.
