Sindh to provide free solar panels to 500,000 houses

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced the distribution of an additional 500,000 solar systems to low-income households this year, expanding the province’s renewable energy efforts.
Initially, the government had planned to provide 200,000 solar systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), with 50,000 already delivered and the rest set for distribution soon.
The expansion follows a directive from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto.
The chief minister also spoke about Karachi’s waste-to-energy initiative, where 15,000 tons of waste are collected daily for conversion into 50 megawatts of electricity.
The project aims to address urban waste challenges while advancing Sindh’s renewable energy goals.
