Pakistan’s largest cattle dung-based biogas plant set up

The country’s largest cattle dung-based biogas plant has been set up near the Karachi M-9 Motorway.
The first phase of the country’s largest biogas plant project has been completed on the Super Highway Gadap, which will produce 8 tons of gas and generate 4MW of electricity daily.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Investment Qasim Naveed said that the provincial government would provide an amount of interest for the project. He said that the government has also facilitated to get a loan from the bank, after which up to 5MW can be generated.
Qasim Naveed said that this is an eco-friendly project which will have far-reaching effects.
The CEO of the private company said that now there will be no wastage of huge quantities of water for cleaning dung on cow farms.
He said that a large quantity of cow dung will be brought to the plant every day. The price of gas will be less than LNG and talks are going on with various buyers in this regard.
