CSS Exam 2025: Government decide to change old system

The federal government has announced significant reforms to the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination system, with a new cluster-based framework replacing the current generalized system.

The reform committee, after completing consultations, has decided to recruit professionals for technical and specialized roles rather than general officers, aiming to align candidates’ skills with the positions they are assigned.

A final meeting will be held to address adjustments to the compensation and pension schemes, with a focus on ensuring that candidates’ qualifications match their designated roles.

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has confirmed that the CSS Exams 2025 will proceed as planned, starting on February 15 and concluding on February 23, 2025. Students are encouraged to download their Admission Certificates Online for the upcoming examination.

However, there has been controversy surrounding the timing of the exams, with several petitions filed in the Islamabad and Lahore High Courts. Petitioners argue that the CSS 2025 exams should not proceed before the results of the 2024 exams are announced.

The FPSC Chairman recently informed the Islamabad High Court that the CSS 2024 results are expected to be declared in the last week of April 2025. This update came after a petition was filed requesting a delay in the CSS 2025 schedule until the results of the 2024 exams are made public.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court has reserved his verdict on the petition following a hearing.
