Karachi weather update: Is rain coming soon?
Karachi has been experiencing overcast skies since this morning, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting light rain or drizzle later in the day. The city has witnessed a noticeable drop in temperatures overnight, with Thursday night being significantly chillier than previous days.
The western weather system, which has entered from Balochistan, is now beginning to affect the city. Karachi’s temperatures have dipped by 1.5°C, with a low of 18°C recorded today compared to yesterday.
The weather is expected to stay cloudy throughout the day, with the possibility of light showers or drizzle in various parts of the city later this evening and night.
Meteorologists have warned of partial to complete cloud cover throughout the day, with rain likely in the coming hours.
Meanwhile, in Lahore and across much of Punjab, rain has continued, with the weather system responsible for the downpour still active. Intermittent rainfall has been reported since last evening, bringing cooler temperatures across the region.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has confirmed that the rainfall, which has been absent for the last five months, will help alleviate the drought conditions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures have slightly dropped across Punjab following the rain, with snowfall expected in the mountainous regions.
Several cities and districts in Punjab, including Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and others, are likely to receive rainfall today.
In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 11°C, with highs expected to reach up to 22°C.
