Freight train derails near Okara, rail traffic suspended

A freight train derailed near Cantt Railway Station in Okara on Saturday, causing multiple bogies to detac and land on GT Road, according to reports.
Following the accident, railway officials and local police swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. Residents from nearby areas also gathered to assist in clearing the site.
Railway officials confirmed that the goods train was traveling from Lahore to Karachi when the derailment occurred. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
As a result of the accident, rail traffic was suspended, and repair work was initiated to restore the railway track. Officials assured that efforts were underway to reopen the track as soon as possible.
Recent train derailments in Pakistan have raised concerns regarding the maintenance of railway infrastructure. Officials acknowledged the urgent need for track repairs across the country, emphasizing that a nationwide survey should be conducted to ensure safer train travel.
