Pakistan, UAE sign five agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed five agreements on Thursday to enhance cooperation in various sectors, coinciding with the first official visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan.

The accords, covering banking, railways, mining, and infrastructure investment, were signed in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the crown prince.

Federal ministers, Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir, and members of the UAE delegation were also present.

During a meeting with the crown prince, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with the UAE.

He highlighted ongoing collaboration, including the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway project, which could benefit both Gwadar and Abu Dhabi ports.

Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE’s support for Pakistan’s economic development, while discussions also focused on expanding trade and investment opportunities.

The visit underscored Pakistan-UAE ties, with both nations aiming to transform their strong political relationship into a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
