US Congressmen write to Secretary of State for PTI founder’s release
In a joint letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, two members of the US Congress, Joe Wilson and August Pufflöger, urged him to contact Pakistan’s military leadership and make possible the release of former prime minister Imran Khan.
According to media reports, both members of the US Congress wrote a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio on February 25 and said that Imran Khan’s imprisonment was the result of politically motivated allegations.
He said that the removal of Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion in 2022 amounted to the suspension of democracy in Pakistan and after that relations between the two countries were strained.
“Happy to work with Republican Study Chairman Auguste Pflogger to work for the release of Imran Khan and the restoration of democracy in Pakistan,” Jowlson said in a statement on social networking site X.
