Private schools barred from collecting March, April fees
Punjab Education Department on Friday barred private schools from collecting tuition fees for March and April from matriculation students.
The decision was made after students logged complaints of unauthorized charges.
The order was issued on the directives of Secretary Schools Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo.
“It is not permissible to ask students for March and April fees,” he stated, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against institutions found violating the orders.
Despite the order, reports suggest that that some private schools have withheld roll number slips from students who have yet to pay their dues.
The education secretary assured that such complaints are being reviewed, and authorities will take necessary measures to ensure compliance.
The matriculation exams are set to commence from March 3.
Punjab Education Department aims to prevent any financial burden on students and their families. Schools found guilty of demanding additional fees will face disciplinary action.
