Ramadan 2025 begins in Pakistan as moon sighted
The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan was sighted in Pakistan on Saturday, confirming that the first fast will be observed on Sunday, March 2.
With the start of the holy month, Muslims across the country are preparing for a period of fasting, prayer, and charity. Markets are witnessing a surge in shoppers buying dates, fruits, and other essentials, while mosques have been adorned with lights.
The government has introduced several measures for Ramadan, including shorter working hours, special Iftar arrangements, and subsidized Ramadan bazaars to ease the financial burden on citizens. Security and traffic control plans have also been implemented to facilitate the public.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his Ramadan message, highlighted the importance of charity and supporting the underprivileged. He urged people to embody the values of patience, unity, and compassion throughout the month.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the significance of gratitude and sacrifice, calling on the nation to remember those in need. He also extended prayers for peace in Pakistan and for the oppressed people of Palestine and Kashmir.
