Four killed in Khuzdar blast

A powerful IED explosion in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district killed four people and injured five others, police reported on Wednesday.

The device was planted in a motorcycle in the Naal Bazaar area, setting vehicles on fire and causing widespread panic.

Rescue teams swiftly moved the injured to Naal and Khuzdar Teaching Hospitals, while security forces cordoned off the area. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, promising swift action against those responsible and ensuring medical care for the injured.

This attack comes just days after a female suicide bomber targeted a paramilitary convoy in Kalat, killing one soldier and wounding four. The frequency of militant attacks has surged, with Pakistan recording 74 attacks in January 2025 alone, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). The data reveals that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remain the most affected regions, with security forces and civilians bearing the brunt of violence.

Security officials continue to reinforce counterterrorism measures as Pakistan grapples with escalating militant activities in its western provinces.
