Long Eid 2025 holidays expected in Pakistan

05 March, 2025 14:17

Great ready for a long weekend as Pakistan braces for week-long holiday this Eid ul Fitar 2025.

The anticipating festive break is likely to commence from March 29 and is expected to continue till April 6, 2025.

The holy month of Ramadan culminates in Eid ul Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic festivals, celebrated on the first day of Shawwal.

The exact date of Eid is determined by the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, following a centuries-old Islamic tradition.

The Eid ul Fitar 2025 is expected to be celebrated across the country on March 31, a Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council member said.

According to him, Shawwal crescent will be visible in most regions of the country on March 30 which is Sunday.

He said that the Shawwal moon will born on Saturday, March 29, and will be visible to human eye by Sunday eve, as it will be over 26 hours old.

The crescent must be at least 18 hours old at sunset –  a condition that will be easily met across Pakistan on March 30.

Moreover, Pakistan would likely to observe five to six days Eid 2025 holidays. They are expected to align with the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), offering a five-day break to enjoy the major festive occasion.

The exact dates will be confirmed by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee at the end of Ramadan.

The first three days of Eid are expected to fall from Monday to Wednesday, aligning with the preceding weekend. Speculation is rising that the government may announce a five-day official holiday from March 29 to April 2.

If additional leave is granted on Thursday and Friday, the break could extend to nine days, from March 29 to April 6. However, the final schedule will depend on the official moon sighting announcement.
