A man shot and killed an administrator of a WhatsApp group in Regi Safed Sang area of Peshawar after being removed from the group, police said Saturday.
The accused is identified as Ashfaq, who allegedly opened fire on the group admin Mustaq Ahmed following a dispute, police said.
A first information report (FIR) has been registered on the complaint of victimβs brother Humayun and an investigation is underway.
In the complaint, Humayun stated that his brother was the group admin on a local WhatsApp group and had headed argument with the accused over the removal.
The complainant stated that his brother, Mushtaq, was the admin of a WhatsApp group and had a heated argument with Ashfaq over his removal from the group.
Humayun, who is also an eye witness of the incident, said that they were walking towards Ashfaq’s residence to settle the dispute when he unexpectedly opened fire.
In an attempt to escape, the two brothers took shelter at a petrol pump, but Ashfaq followed them inside and allegedly shot Mushtaq, killing him on the spot.
His body has been handed over to the family after a postmortem. Meanwhile, an investigation is also under way into the case.
