Railways announces special trains with discounted fares for Eidul Fitr 2025

Newly appointed Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has announced that the government will operate special trains at discounted fares for Eidul Fitr to facilitate passengers traveling during the festive season.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad on Monday, Abbasi revealed that he has instructed railway authorities to prioritize passenger safety and enhance security by installing surveillance equipment to prevent accidents. He emphasized that these measures would not only ensure safer travel but also boost railway revenue while reducing operational costs.

Eid Special Trains to Run from 25th Ramadan

While announcing the special Eid train service, Abbasi stated that these trains would begin operations from the 25th of Ramadan, offering reduced fares to accommodate the influx of holiday travelers. However, he did not specify the exact number of trains or the percentage of fare reductions that passengers can expect.

ML-1 Project Under Discussion with International Partners

Abbasi also highlighted that the government is in discussions with multiple countries regarding the ML-1 (Main Line-1) railway project, which is expected to be a major infrastructure development for Pakistan’s railway network.

It is worth noting that Hanif Abbasi was recently appointed to the federal cabinet and assumed charge as Minister of Railways just three days ago. His early initiatives suggest a proactive approach towards improving railway operations and passenger services.
