Chicken prices soar in Karachi – Check latest rates today

Chicken Prices Surge Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 – Check Latest Rates
Chicken prices in Karachi have surged unexpectedly, causing distress among consumers. The current rate of chicken meat has jumped to Rs760 per kilogram, significantly impacting households that depend on poultry as a staple food.
Chicken price in Karachi today
The chicken rate in Karachi has surpassed official limits. Live chicken is being sold for Rs500 per kilogram, despite the government setting the price at Rs420 per kilogram. Similarly, chicken meat is priced at Rs760 per kilogram, while the official rate remains at Rs650.
Why is Chicken price increasing?
Poultry sellers argue that official rates do not match market conditions. They claim they are purchasing live chicken at Rs470 per kilogram, making it impossible to sell at government-mandated prices. As a result, retailers are passing on the increased costs to consumers, further driving up prices.
Authorities respond to price hike
In response to public complaints, officials in different cities have started taking action. In Lahore, Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza has directed price magistrates to enforce compliance with official rates. However, in Karachi, the issue remains unresolved, with consumers urging authorities to take immediate action.
Will Chicken prices stabilize?
It remains uncertain whether chicken prices in Karachi will stabilize soon. Unless supply chain issues and pricing conflicts are addressed, the upward trend may continue, adding to the financial strain on consumers.
