Punjab bans dancing and unethical activities in colleges
The Punjab Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges) has officially banned dancing and other “unethical” activities in both public and private colleges across the province.
According to a notification issued by the directorate, all “unethical and vulgar activities” have been strictly prohibited in educational institutions. The decision was made following concerns that such activities do not align with the principles of quality education.
The Secretary of the Higher Education Department particularly criticized events like fun fairs and sports galas, where students and teachers were seen dancing to Indian songs on stage and in classrooms. Officials believe these activities undermine the educational environment.
All college principals and directors have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new rule. Authorities have warned that any violations will lead to disciplinary action.
Instead of dance performances, colleges have been advised to promote extracurricular activities that reflect cultural and educational values.
This is not the first time Punjab has enforced such restrictions. Previously, similar bans on mobile phones and dancing were implemented in schools and colleges.
