CM Punjab Laptop Scheme: Registration Completed – Check Balloting Details

The registration process for the Punjab government’s CM Punjab Laptop Scheme officially concluded on March 20, 2025 (Thursday), with the balloting date expected to be announced soon.

Application & Eligibility Details

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat had earlier confirmed that the final deadline for BS program students to apply for free laptops was March 20. Under this initiative, students will receive state-of-the-art 13th-generation Core i7 laptops, ensuring access to modern technology for academic excellence.

The scheme targets deserving students, including 2,000 minority students and those who secured top marks in their Secondary and Higher Secondary School Examinations.

Laptop Distribution & Quotas

The South Punjab region will receive 32% of the total laptops, while distribution will be prioritized for students enrolled in disciplines such as computer science, medicine, engineering, business, agriculture, veterinary sciences, social sciences, and languages.

Over 250,000 students have applied online for the 110,000 available laptops. The first phase will distribute laptops to students in their first and second semesters.

Merit Criteria for Laptop Scheme

The Punjab government has established the following merit requirements:

• BS students must have secured at least 65% marks in their intermediate exams.
• Medical and dental students must meet a minimum of 80% marks.

Allocation Breakdown

Laptops will be allocated as follows:

• 20,000 for university students
• 14,000 for college students
• 4,000 for technical & agricultural college students
• 2,000 for medical & dental college students

Expected Laptop Distribution Date

The laptop distribution process is expected to begin after Ramadan 2025, with interviews of eligible students scheduled for February. The laptops will likely be distributed in April or May 2025.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently announced that the first shipment of laptops has already arrived in Pakistan. Special ceremonies will be held in different cities under the Honhaar Scholarship Program to distribute the laptops to outstanding students.

This initiative aims to support talented students from all backgrounds, including those from minority communities and rural areas, ensuring they have access to digital learning resources.
