Eid ul Fitr 2025: Will it be on March 30 or 31?
Eidul Fitr 2025 in Pakistan is set for 31 March, with the day pending a moon sighting on 30 March. If the moon isn’t sighted, the day will fall on Tuesday. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold meetings on 30 March to confirm the sighting, with experts predicting the moon’s age to be 27 hours. The Pakistan Meteorological Department confirms the moon’s visibility for about an hour.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council predicts that Eidul Fitr in 2025 will occur on March 31, as the crescent moon is expected to be visible in most Pakistani regions on the evening of March 30, with the moon being 27 hours old.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s meeting on the Eid ul-Fitr moon sighting is scheduled for March 30, with other zonal committees’ meetings taking place at their designated locations.
The Meteorological Department predicts Eid ul-Fitr to occur on March 31, with the Shawwal moon’s birth on March 29 at 3:58 PM, and its visibility in the sky for 70 minutes after sunset.
The department confirmed that the moon, over 20 hours old, can be seen with the naked eye by March 30, but the International Astronomical Center confirmed that the Shawwal moon will be impossible to see in all Arab and Islamic regions on March 29 due to its set before the sun and conjunction after sunset.
Astronomical changes may make it impossible to observe the Eid crescent on March 29, making it impossible to observe it by the naked eye or telescopes. Countries requiring actual sightings may need to extend Ramadan to 30 days, causing Eid ul-Fitr to fall on March 31. In Pakistan, the Federal government has officially declared Eidul-Fitr holidays from March 31 to April 2, with the exact date determined by the Shawwal crescent moon.
