What are the minimum and maximum amounts for Sadqa-e-Fitr?

27 March, 2025 16:11

The Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council, Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has announced the updated amounts for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya (compensation for missed fasts) for this year.

He explained that the minimum amount for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya, based on wheat prices, is Rs220 per person. If someone prefers to give it based on other food items, the amounts vary:

  • Barley: Rs450

  • Dates: Rs1,650

  • Raisins: Rs2,500

  • Dried Dates (Munaqa): Rs5,000

Allama Naeemi emphasized that people should give according to their financial situation. Sadqa-e-Fitr is mandatory for all Muslims, whether male or female, young or old, rich or poor—even if they are a servant or free.

For those paying Fidya for 30 missed fasts, the amounts are:

  • Wheat: Rs6,600

  • Barley: Rs13,500

  • Dates: Rs49,500

  • Raisins: Rs75,000

  • Munaqa: Rs150,000

He also clarified that if someone intentionally breaks a fast, they must either fast for 60 consecutive days or feed 60 poor people two meals each as expiation.

Lastly, he mentioned that those benefiting from subsidized wheat from the government can pay Rs160 as Sadqa-e-Fitr or Fidya.
