As Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 approaches, consumers in Pakistan are facing yet another price hike in essential kitchen staples, with cooking oil and ghee witnessing a significant increase. The rise in demand ahead of the festive season has led to a surge in prices, putting an additional burden on household budgets.
Price Increase in Ghee and Cooking Oil
In a notable spike, premium brands of cooking oil have gone up by Rs15 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs615 per liter. Similarly, ghee prices have increased by Rs10 per kilogram, now costing around Rs600 per kg.
Even second-tier brands have followed suit, with cooking oil now retailing between Rs500 to Rs520 per liter, while ghee has seen a Rs10 jump, bringing its price to Rs500 per kg.

Impact on Consumers
The sudden price jump has raised concerns among consumers, who are already struggling with inflation. The hike in cooking oil and ghee prices just before Eid is likely linked to market fluctuations and increased demand, making it harder for families to manage expenses during the festive season.
With Eid just around the corner, many households are now adjusting their shopping lists and budgets to accommodate the rising costs of essential food items.
