Changpeng Zhao, the founder of world-renowned crypto exchange Binance, known worldwide as “CZ,” has been appointed as a strategic advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC).
The official announcement of this important appointment was made during a high-level meeting in Islamabad, attended by representatives of the CZ and the Pakistan Crypto Council. The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the governor of the State Bank, and the secretaries of the Ministry of Law and IT. The objective of the meeting was to formulate a strategy for the promotion of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in Pakistan.
During his visit to Pakistan, CZ also held separate meetings with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, in which they discussed investment in the crypto industry, regulation, and cooperation in the technology sector.
The appointment of CZ will open new doors for policymaking, education and awareness, and global cooperation related to crypto assets in the country. This initiative could prove to be an important milestone in the development of Pakistan’s digital economy.
By leveraging CZ’s global reputation and expertise in crypto technology, Pakistan can play an effective role in the global crypto market.
Earlier, On the other hand, Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that American satellite internet company Starlink will launch its services in Pakistan by November or December this year.
Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication on Monday, the federal minister said that the government is providing a license to Starlink, but there are still a few stages of the licensing process that the company is currently going through.
In this regard, Starlink first obtained registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, after which the company also registered with the Space Activities Regulatory Board.
Moreover, Starlink is also in talks to determine the pricing of its services, and the price of internet packages in Pakistan will be determined after the final pricing.
