LESCO Expands Smart Meter Installation – Here’s Where

The company also has enhanced the safety strategy by utilizing insulated conductors in highly populated areas including GOR, Cantt, Johar Town, and Gulberg. In another significant safety development, LESCO has set up an independent Health, Safety, and Environment Directorate to minimize risks and improve working conditions for employee safety.

As part of its ambitious five-year plan, the company is moving to install 535,000 smart meters, and it has already installed 55,000 of them. The introduction of smart metering has reduced losses resulting in detection bills worth Rs. 4.23 billion and Rs. 35.12 billion of recovery from private defaulters.

LESCO also has saved significant money by rehabilitating transformers in Kasur and Sheikhupura, saving close to Rs. 100 million each year. The upgrades to infrastructure have also continued with the establishment of seven new 132kV grid stations, the upgrade of 16 transformers, and the reconductoring of 116 kilometers of power lines.
