General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), who is on an official visit to Nigeria, called on H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Defence Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosum Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff and Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff of Nigeria.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the separately-held meetings, both sides engaged in discussions on challenges faced by both countries especially in the domain of Counter Terrorism (CT) and areas of mutual interest, including security, defence cooperation, and the evolving international / regional landscape. Both sides reaffirmed the resolve to further enhance defence and military collaboration between both militaries.
The Nigerian civil and military leadership lauded the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in fight against terrorism.
Earlier, the Corps Investigation Ceremony of Rawalpindi Corps was held on Friday. Corps Commander Rawalpindi, Lieutenant General Shahid Imtiaz, was the chief guest on the occasion.
At the ceremony, military officers and soldiers were awarded the Tamgha Imtiaz (Military), Sitara Imtiaz (Military), and Tamgha Bisalat.
As per military’s sources, 2 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and 15 soldiers were awarded the Tamgha Basalat. 47 officers were awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military), and 102 officers were awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) for their distinguished service to the nation.
In this regard, the next of kin (NOK) of the martyrs received their awards posthumously.
In addition, the corps commander interacted with the families of the martyrs and paid a glowing tribute to their sacrifices.
Moreover, a large number of senior Army officers and families of awardees attended the ceremony.
