PIA direct Lahore-Baku flights to begin on April 20

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of direct flights from Lahore to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from April 20.

The spokesperson said that the role of travel agents is important in making the Baku route successful and the national airline is committed to making the Baku route commercially successful.

In this regard, a special ceremony was held in honor of travel agents and tour operators in Karachi, in which travel agents were provided with information about flights to Baku.

Earlier,  after 21 years, the national airline has achieved a net profit of billions of rupees.

According to a spokesperson for PIA, in 2024, the national carrier earned an operational profit of Rs9.3 billion and a net profit of Rs26.2 billion.

The spokesman said that the operating margin of the airline was more than 12 per cent, which is equal to any best airline.

The national carrier’s last profit was in 2003.

On the remarkable performance of the national airline, Minister for Defence and Aviation Khawaja Asif said that the people had lost hope on the airline considered to be the pride of the nation.

Asif also said in his statement that the national airline earned an operating profit of Rs9.3 billion in fiscal year 2024 and after 21 years, the national airline earned a net profit of Rs26.2 billion.

The federal minister further said that the airline is now ready to take advantage of the financial performance through privatization, good news is coming from all sides under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
