Islamabad Increases Vehicle Transfer Fees from April 14, 2025
The Office of the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory has announced a major increase in vehicle transfer fees across various categories. The revised rates will take effect on April 14, 2025, following an official notification issued on April 11, 2025.
This change, implemented under Section 43 of the West Pakistan Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1965, is aimed at managing the rising number of vehicle registrations and covering administrative costs.

Who’s Affected?
The new rates apply to both private and commercial vehicles, including motorbikes and electric vehicles (EVs). For the first time, EVs will be subject to transfer fees in Islamabad, showing their rising popularity in Pakistan.
Motorcycle transfer fees, previously fixed at Rs. 150, have also seen a significant increase depending on engine capacity.
Enforcement and Collection
The updated fees will be collected by the Excise & Taxation Department, ICT Islamabad, and must be deposited into accounts designated by the Ministry of Finance.
EV Market on the Rise
The introduction of fees for electric vehicles reflects their growing presence in the market. Brands such as BYD, MG Motor, Dewan Motors, DFSK, and GuGo Motors have recently expanded into Pakistan, making EVs more accessible.
