Federal cabinet okays key projects, focus on Balochistan development

The federal cabinet has held an important meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif in which several important national decisions were taken.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, an amendment to the Petroleum Products (Petroleum Levy) Ordinance 1961 was approved on the recommendation of the Petroleum Division.
The meeting also approved the “Sustainable Investment Sukuk Framework” for the issuance of domestic securities. In addition, permission was given to send the bill for the establishment of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority to the Parliament.
The savings generated from the reduction in the prices of petroleum products in the global market will not be passed on to the consumers but will be spent on development projects in Balochistan. He directed that the most important national highway of Balochistan, N-5, be made dual carriageway to the standards of a motorway.
The Prime Minister further said that Phase 2 of the Kachhi Canal will also be completed with the savings, which will enable hundreds of acres of land in Balochistan to be irrigated.
Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Sarfaraz Bugti specially attended the federal cabinet meeting and thanked the PM for the development projects for the people of Balochistan.
