Punjab Government Issues 2025 Heatwave Advisory for Schools, Early Summer Break Under Consideration

15 April, 2025 14:30

In light of rising temperatures, the School Education Department (SED) has issued a heatwave advisory for Punjab schools 2025 to ensure student safety. All public and private schools have been directed to implement key safety measures as the region experiences intense heatwaves.

Mandatory Heatwave Precautions for Punjab Schools

As per the latest guidelines, schools must now:

  • Provide cool, clean drinking water in all classrooms

  • Encourage students to carry their own water bottles

  • Conduct classes in well-ventilated, airy rooms

  • Suspend all outdoor activities, including sports and morning assemblies

  • Educate students about heatstroke symptoms and basic first aid

These protocols are being enforced across the province as daily temperatures continue to rise in multiple districts.

Early Summer Break and School Closures Under Consideration

Given the extreme weather, discussions are underway about starting Punjab school summer vacations 2025 earlier than planned. The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has recommended either adjusting school hours or initiating an early break. If the situation worsens, an official announcement regarding Punjab school closures in May 2025 could be made soon.

Adjusted School Timings in Punjab

To protect students from peak heat hours, schools may shift to early morning schedules, concluding classes before noon. This move is aimed at minimizing heat-related health risks for both students and staff.

Parents Urged to Cooperate

Parents are also being encouraged to take preventive steps at home. Children should wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

This proactive heatwave advisory for Punjab schools in 2025 reflects the government’s efforts to tackle climate-related challenges and ensure student well-being. Stakeholders are advised to stay tuned to official updates for further developments regarding summer vacations and revised school timings.
